As a kid I spent a lot of time out at night, and saw many large black ground beetles.

Lately, on my nightly walks, I’ve been seeing black ground beetles again. I wondered about their lifestyle, so decided to look them up. It turns out they’re generally helpful, eating many pests. Orkin reports that ground beetles will not carry out reproduction indoors.
