Philosophy: Paul’s windshield

Self-tutoring about philosophy: the tutor mentions a funny story.

A few days ago I noticed pollen and sap on Paul’s windshield, so I decided, at the gas station, to wash it. Afterwards, there were many water spots on it; I inwardly scolded myself for making such a mess of it.

At home I decided to retouch Paul’s windshield. Wiping it from the outside, I noticed that the water spots were out of reach: they were on the inside. It turns out I didn’t mess up the windshield by washing it. Rather, after I’d washed it, I could see water spots invisible while it was dirty. The water spots likely developed during the winter, when Paul had to wipe condensation in the morning.
