Politics: Meloni, Italy’s first female Prime Minister

Self-tutoring about politics: the tutor reflects about Meloni’s victory.

Leading the right-wing party Brothers of Italy, which she co-founded, Giorgia Meloni won the Italian election on Sunday, Sept 25, to become Italy’s first female Prime Minister.

Being female, however, doesn’t guarantee political correctness; it seems many people who might have claimed to want Italy to have a female prime minister aren’t so sure they’re happy with Giorgia. She’s an assortment of interesting points of view, which she’s apparently fearless about sharing. She’s been congratulated by numerous political leaders. Even though Meloni supports Ukraine, it’s perhaps Russia who made the most interesting comment:

“We are ready to welcome any political forces that are able to go beyond the established mainstream….”-Kremlin(reported by al Jazeera)

One idea I think is important is how tough Giorgia must be to have won the election. In the western world, there might be no place tougher than Rome: it brought Julius Caesar down.

Interesting times….
