If you search up “first day of spring” on this site, you’ll find numerous posts about it. My definition of first day of spring you’ll find here. It’s motivated by experience on Canada’s Atlantic and Pacific coasts. I realize there is an Arctic one, too, and hope to post from that point of view, some day.

My definition for the first day of spring, regardless where you are in Canada, is your first sunny day with double-digit positive temperature. Here, in 2022, that’s today: the current temperature is 11°C, the condition outside, sunny.

I hear a bird call I don’t recognize, as if to punctuate the occasion. I’ll try to find out who’s making that call, and hope to dedicate a future post thereto.
