Sports: MMA fight card

Self-tutoring about watching sports: the tutor mentions UFC 296.

Over the weekend I attended the pay-per-view UFC 296 fight card. It might have been the most entertaining experience I’ve had watching sports.

My son follows the UFC much more than I do. Therefore, the pre-game show, which ran from perhaps two hours before the action, brought me up to speed on what fights we would watch and their participants. Sitting back, drinking coffee and conversing with the other spectators, was fun anticipation.

In my opinion, the most interesting fight of the night was Paddy Pimblett vs Tony Ferguson. It was the best I’ve seen from Pimblett, who won the decision. Nonetheless, Ferguson put up some good opposition.

The enthusiasm of the commentators as well as the spectators made the event very social and fun. The crowd included some die-hard UFC fans (including amateur fighters) as well as sports fans who like action. I am looking forward to the next such event, which seems to be sometime in January 2024.
