Technology: directed energy weapons, part 2
Self-tutoring about technology: the tutor continues about directed energy weapons.
In my post from February 7, I mention directed energy weapons, giving the example of lasers. Lasers for such an application are sometimes referred to as HELs (high energy lasers).
Another type of directed energy weapon is the HPM: high power microwave. Its purpose includes the disruption of electronic function by mimicking genuine signals as well as compromising the properties of semiconductors.
Since the physical damage from a HPM may be very subtle, an attack may not be suspected even when hardware is disabled by one.
