Ubuntu: cinnamon desktop

Self-tutoring about Ubuntu: the tutor mentions a change he made.

To my knowledge, Ubuntu typically comes with Gnome as its desktop. I’ve used Ubuntu for years.

This computer is too old to use current Windows, but will still run Ubuntu. However, some features of the Gnome desktop didn’t work – for instance, Screen Lock. Yet, Screen Lock is important.

I researched the problem and other people agreed it does exist, but some suggestions of how to fix it were complicated. I decided maybe changing the desktop environment would help: after more reading I changed to Cinnamon.

The Cinnamon desktop has been a breath of fresh air. Screen Lock works with it, so that’s the problem solved. Moreover, it’s just a very cool desktop environment.
