Propulsion technology: what does “turbo” mean?

Self-tutoring about fuel-burning propulsion: the tutor mentions the prefix “turbo.”

To my understanding, “turbo” means the exhaust gas is used spin a turbine that compresses the air going into the combustion chamber.
