Vocabulary: (re)furbish

Tutoring English, vocabulary is always interesting. The tutor mentions furbish and refurbish.

Not always, in English, can you put re- in front of a word, yet retain the same meaning. It can be done, however, with furbish.

Furbish can mean to make attractive at creation, but can also mean to restore to attractiveness – hence, to refurbish.
