Windows: the temporary file, part I

Follow-up from an earlier post: the tutor discusses a spontaneously-generated .tmp file.

Back on June 14 I write about a .tmp file I noticed in a folder I wanted to send. What I did about it, you can read there.

.tmp files often seem to spawn in active folders, and I’ve been wondering why. I guess the answer is that, when using an Office program, for instance, file.tmp can spawn from an autosave. However, if you save the changes that the autosave already contains, that .tmp file can then disappear.

I’ve had .tmp files disappear, so the above explanation makes sense to me.
