Business: Canada and USA: coffee importation

Self-tutoring about trade comparisons between Canada and the USA: the tutor mentions coffee importation.

It seems that Canada imports nearly twice as much coffee as the USA, per capita, as suggested by the following:

Population: Canada: 38.8 million; US: 342 million.

Coffee imports: Canada: $1.8 billion; US, $8.9 billion

Based on the population ratio of 38.8/342=0.11, Canada would import 0.11x$8.9 ≅ $1.0 billion in coffee. Yet, it imports 1.8 times that much.

However, there is an exportation consideration; hopefully, it will be explored in another post:)
