Health: Visceral fat, part0

Self-tutoring about body fat and its effect on health: the tutor begins about visceral fat.

Visceral fat lies behind the stomach muscles, below the diaphragm. It resides among the liver, stomach, intestines, and kidneys.

Visceral fat is “biologically active”1, meaning it acts as a gland. The trouble is that the chemicals it produces cause damage.

Visceral fat may be equally hazardous with high blood pressure.2

My understanding is that visceral fat can’t be easily combatted just by dieting; exercise is more effective against it.

Even a person who doesn’t look very fat may have enough visceral fat to be problematic.

I will be talking more about visceral fat.
