Home computer use: dual-boot

Self-tutoring about home computer systems: the tutor shares an observation.

Linux can allow dual-boot – a situation in which there’s another operating system (such as Windows) on a computer, but you can start it in Linux.

Today I loaded Linux on an old Windows 7 PC. Taking the Linux OS for a spin, the browser at first complained about numerous sites – something about “a secure connection failed.” (I knew the sites to be okay, and verified them on a Windows 10 PC.)

Later on, it was fine with them. Perhaps updates were pending, etc…but anyway, the dual boot seems to work fine, including web browsing on Linux. The PC used to be solely Windows 7.
