Learning difficult or complicated concepts: the Feynman technique

Tutoring high school and college, study methods come up. The tutor mentions a good one.

The Feynman technique begins with writing a non-technical explanation of what you’re trying to learn. To follow it properly, you don’t consult resources this time; rather, just write what you think, however skeletal.

Next, you read your first draft. If areas need work, consult the appropriate references. Next, you can subdivide the explanation into several smaller cases for which to incorporate the Feynman technique.

Finally, once you’ve a decent, complete explanation, try to write it even more simply, without losing any meaning.

I’ll be looking at other learning methods.
