Lifestyle, nutrition: lunch reflections
Self-tutoring about what to have for “serious” lunch: the tutor reflects.
I’ve had a morning, to be sure, and have a demanding afternoon that could last until 16:30. I was looking forward to eating, but then thought carefully about what it should be.
I’m no expert on nutrition; what I say herein is just my thoughts.
I don’t like refined foods, so I’m going with trail mix: what sells me is its nut content.
A lunch that’s mainly carbs won’t last long, and (even worse) may spike the blood sugar on the front end – not good. This trail mix, in 50g, has 21g oils, 14g carbohydrates, and 11g protein. That proportion of nutrients will last a long time. More importantly, it won’t spike the blood sugar.I’m not diabetic (so far as I know). However, at my age, a spike in blood sugar just feels rotten.
It’s been a pleasure having lunch with you:)
