Weather: hailstones
Self-tutoring about the weather: the tutor mentions a new experience.
Around lunchtime today, I started hearing heavy rain. Someone went to the window: looking outside, they mentioned there was hail mixed with the rain. I wasn’t too surprised; the forecast had suggested potential thunderstorms, so this all fit.
After a few minutes the rain more or less stopped: I couldn’t hear it any longer. However, about five minutes later, I heard a metallic twang from one of the outdoor fixtures. It sounded like a golf ball had hit it. I looked up just as I heard it again. I went to the window.
The hailstones, this time, were much bigger than I’ve seen – maybe as big as marbles. They continued for a couple of minutes, and fell less densely than the hail of earlier.
