In the video clip seen here, McLuhan connects that “If the medium is the message, then the content is the audience.”
“The content is the audience” suggests that people watch themselves on TV. The idea makes sense: people easily follow stories they relate to; therefore, relaxing on the couch after a day’s work, they unwind by watching themselves on TV. The renditions are glamourized, yet recognizable.
Nature-minded people might watch cave exploration videos because they can easily imagine doing so themselves.
